Zubereitung Katsiki Kleftiko (Bandit-style Goat)
- 1
Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
15 Min. - 2
Cut the goat meat into large chunks and place in a bowl.
- 3
Add crushed garlic, chopped onion, sliced lemon, rosemary sprigs, oregano, salt, pepper, and olive oil to the goat meat. Mix well to coat all pieces.
- 4
Cover the bowl and let the meat marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, in the refrigerator.
120 Min. - 5
Place the marinated goat meat in a heavy ovenproof pot or casserole dish with a tight-fitting lid.
- 6
Add a splash of white wine and a few bay leaves to the pot.
- 7
Cover the pot tightly with its lid or aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven.
- 8
Cook slowly for about 3 to 4 hours until the meat is tender and falls off the bone.
210 Min. - 9
Occasionally check to make sure there is enough moisture; add a little water or wine if needed to prevent drying.
- 10
Once cooked, remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
5 Min. - 11
Serve the katsiki kleftiko hot, traditionally with roasted potatoes or a simple Greek salad.
